Handicap Committee Welcomes you to a New Season
Two basic premises underlie the Handicap System, namely that each player will try to make the best score at every hole in every round, regardless of where the round is played, and that the player will post every acceptable round for peer review.
At RattleSnake we use Golf Genius for all member events and scores are posted from here automatically by the club to Golf Canada Score Centre for handicapping purposes. For other scores, the Golf Canada App should be used for easy and efficient posting of scores.
In the 2020 golf season, we conducted quite a few audits of individuals who were brought to our attention because of handicap issues. A number of audits confirmed that players had not entered all their scores. Many thought that match play games do not have to be posted. This is NOT the case and there are procedures for scoring holes that are not completed or even played. More on that later. A few had patterns of better scores when playing in men’s night or tournaments compared to their other games. Handicaps can be adjusted for tournaments for individuals in these cases.
In 2021 we will be conducting many more audits, particularly in any club sponsored events where the handicap is used in the tournament, such as Net Match Play, Kennedy Kup, Member/Guest etc.

Start the season off right by using the Golf Canada App!
Use of the Golf Canada App and all its features is included with your Rattlesnake membership. There has never been a faster, more convenient way to enter all your golf scores and manage your golf game. The Golf Canada mobile App can be downloaded to your smartphone. It’s free, and very simple to use.
Your Golf Canada profile displays the number of rounds you’ve played, your current handicap, and there is even an option to track your stats. Everything from driving accuracy, greens hit in regulation, putting strokes, bunker shots and up & downs. Plus, you’ll always be in the know since you are able to follow the fortunes (and misfortunes) of your golfing friends.
To get started all you need is a user ID and password. If you are new to the App, the Pro Shop can get you set up with the credentials to get you started. Please e mail them at nrobinson@clublink.ca.

Entering all your golf scores is fundamental to enjoying this great game and tracking your progress. The Golf Canada App is the quickest, easiest and most convenient way to get those scores in.
