GOLF FORE THE CURE at Eagle Ridge

25 SEP 2019

By Tracey Luel,

Director of Women’s Golf Initiatives

Eagle Ridge Golf Club recently held its very first GOLF FORE THE CURE event.

The event drew 54 women to enjoy a great day of golf and fun for an important cause. With generous donations from Members and the local community they were able to raise $5,000.00 for the Canadian Cancer Society.

The Eagle Ridge team partnered with the Glencairn women’s section to promote the event together. About half of the participants were guests which makes events like this a fantastic way for us to share our beautiful golf courses with friends, while celebrating golf, friendship and raising funds.

The Eagle Ridge team introduced a few fun and unique ways to raise funds on site. Notable were the Closest to the “cup” raffle featuring a decorated bra, and a 50/50 draw where the winner kindly donated her winnings back into the fundraising pool. In addition, other local ClubLink courses donated rounds of golf for the silent auction table; very well supported and received.

The plan moving forward is to encourage more ClubLink Women’s sections to host Golf Fore the Cure events at their own clubs. Together we can make a significant financial contribution and a BIG impact.

Congratulations to Eagle Ridge’s Ladies Vice-Captain, Mary Jo Jans, (pictured on the left) and Marsha Jones, Business Development & Women’s Golf Coordinator with Eagle Ridge Golf Club (on the right). When there is passion and drive, big things can happen!

So to the Women’s Club Captains of ClubLink, consider adding a Golf Fore the Cure event to your 2020 event calendar (if you have not already)  and start a new annual tradition; a way to raise important funds, come together as a membership and share an amazing experience with friends.

A win win win proposition.
