Update from Beverly Finlayson

Hello Everyone,

July has finally arrived with some fantastic sunshine and temperatures.  We would like to thank everyone for their support so far this season.  We see many familiar faces at our events and in our Bistro.   We embrace the opportunities to get together once again with family, friends, and with coworkers going to dinner or a Jays game.

Our post COVID world brings new challenges, and we want to keep you in the loop.  Almost every business is experiencing shortages of skilled and unskilled labour, supply and demand issues, and the basics necessities affect our ability to maintain a property.  Maintaining a large clubhouse can be difficult during busy times; contractor demand and the supplies they require to complete the progress are not readily available.

We know the Halfway House washrooms have been a bit of a disaster since pipes burst in April. We are happy to announce this project will be completed this week and our contractor will begin working on terrace railings amongst other things.  It is not about budget, it’s about skilled contractors, available labour and supplies.  We do care and take great pride in our clubhouse; we want to ensure it presents at its best.  Thank you for your patience and understanding!

On another positive note, Nancy Jamieson, our Facilities Supervisor, has been busy planting flowers along with the Turf Crew.  We want to thank Bill for all the fresh flowers along the Bistro Terrace and the many garden beds that are being attended to.  This is a massive project requiring daily attention!  Everyday we see improvements to our gardens and we know there is more planned.

Behind the scenes, we continue to shop at local stores for many of your favorite beverages and ingredients to our menu items.  We are stockpiling as much as we can to avoid running short.  We are experiencing random shortage such as French fries, Bud Light Seltzer and Perrier amongst other things.

Weekly live entertainment has begun on our Bistro.  This past Friday, July 8 David Leask performed, returning from previous season.  David has a great voice and played all our favourites from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm!  Max DeSousa and the Liquid Jazz Trio will be back to play on Friday July 15!  We will post all the performers and dates on our website.  Entertainment along with our "After Five" dinner features make for a great night out!

We look forward to seeing you at the club!

Best Regards,

Beverly Finlayson,  Clubhouse Manager
