Turf Update: Looking Ahead to 2027
As we head into the final weeks of the season, the Turf team has been busy not only preparing the courses for winter, but also working on several projects that will improve the playing experience and aesthetics for next season.
Looking Ahead to Next Year
Pond Bank Re-Grading & Sodding
One of the projects planned for next year will be re-grading and sodding the pond banks on #15 Sidewinder, #1 Copperhead and #9 Copperhead.
This work will help correct areas of erosion and improve the overall appearance of these holes. It will also address some of the “dripped lip” look around the pond edges and create a cleaner visual for players hitting into the greens on each of these holes.
Retaining Wall on #16 Sidewinder
A new retaining wall will also be constructed on #16 Sidewinder, similar in style to the walls currently seen on #6 Sidewinder and #11 Copperhead.
The new wall will provide a cleaner, more finished look from the tee while also changing the visual presentation of the hole as players prepare to tee off.
#4 Sidewinder Tee Deck Extension
You may have also noticed the recent extension to the red tee deck on #4 Sidewinder.
From time to time, you may see the white tees positioned toward the back of this extended deck. This will provide an additional option for players playing the white or blue/white tees, allowing them to take a different line and potentially carry the fairway bunker.
The tees may not be positioned there every day, but the extension gives the Turf team and Golf Operations another option for setting up the hole.
Closing Out the 2026 Season
The Turf team is also well into its fall maintenance program.
Tee deck aeration has been completed, and the team is approximately halfway through sanding the decks. One piece of good news for our golfers: we will not be punching the greens before the end of the season. Our greens will continue to roll true right through to closing.
We will, however, be punching the aprons over the coming days and weeks as part of our regular fall maintenance.
You may have also noticed that the annual fescue cut is now complete. This is standard fall maintenance and helps prepare these areas for the winter months.
Finally, a reminder that the on-course washrooms will close the week of October 26. If you are playing during that time, please plan to use the washrooms in the clubhouse or at the halfway house when making the turn.
A big thank you to our Turf team for the work they continue to put in both on the course today and behind the scenes to improve the course for seasons to come.
