Director of Operations Update

30 MAR 2023

With a new year, comes new challenges. Canada’s economic landscape continues to change as we move further away from the Pandemic years of the recent past. Rising costs of everyday items continue to affect us all in our personal and professional lives, and our team is keeping all of that in mind when it comes to costs associated with the Club. Pre-Pandemic pricing for items such as food and beverage are likely a thing of the past, however, we will continue to provide the best experience possible in terms of quality and service that you have come to expect from RattleSnake Point Golf Club.

A new year also offers new and exciting opportunities. We’d like to share what we’ve been working on over the winter; We are excited to announce power caddy storage this season; a first for ClubLink. We have our brand new starter hut that is more functional and will offer Members an easier and more efficient start to their round. A completely new operating system, which includes point of sale and tee time booking, is sure to ease your ability to book tee times more efficiently. The Men’s locker room received a much needed freshen up in time for the start of the new season. And last but not least, we’ve added talented new team Members to our second-to-none staff and are confident our Members will continue to receive the same level of service they have come to expect from RattleSnake.

Our goal throughout the season is to keep you informed with updates and progress on the bunker project via newsletters and social media. Bill and team continue to work daily on tackling this project in a safe, timely and exceptional manner. In the offseason, the team is dependent on weather more than in-season to be able to work on certain bunkers. We have the Membership top of mind while planning the most efficient way to complete the entire project, that disrupts golf as little as possible while keeping in mind the time it takes to complete. The plan was to start the removal of the fairway bunker on 10 CH along the pond by early Spring and have already gotten a head start on doing so. We’ve experienced some heavy winds over the winter and have lost a few trees throughout the property. Work has begun to clean these areas up in time for the season opening.

As it has been known since the beginning of COVID-19, the pool has not been in operation. The decision has been made to permanently shut down the pool and facilities going forward. We know the pool was loved by many and are sad to see it go, but the space will be repurposed with the Membership in mind. Construction will begin this year with the anticipation that a new Members only area will add to the experience of being a RattleSnake Member.

We have brought back the Member Experience Manager position this year and are excited to have Jesse Gronkowski in this exciting role. RattleSnake is a busy Club that offers many Member events on and off the golf course. We envision this role as a liaison for all things Member related. Jesse will be out and about at the Club most days during the season and we encourage all of our Members to touch base with him if they have any questions or concerns throughout the course of the year. As every year, the entire RattleSnake management team is always willing to assist Members and we hope that the reintroduction of the Member Experience Manager will only improve your experience at the Club.

In the Clubhouse, we’re welcoming back an amazing group that are eager to get our schedule of social events underway. Our monthly 9 & Dine’s are returning for the months of June – September. We will also be hosting live entertainment on weekend evenings starting May 14th. And be sure not to miss our Mother’s Day Brunch and Father’s Day BBQ this year! All upcoming social events at the Club will be posted around the Clubhouse, as well as communicated via our Club e-newsletter.

Corporate Events will be held at the Club on Monday’s only this season. Use of the Clubhouse and practice facilities will be limited on these days, however, we will have reciprocal play blocked off for RattleSnake Members on other ClubLink tee sheets to accommodate our Home Club Members and assist in obtaining tee times.

In 2023 our theme at the Club is Crisp and Clean. This starts from the moment you turn off Hwy 25 into the property and the moment you leave. We are putting significant resources into rejuvenating the gardens around the Clubhouse, including our famed RattleSnake logo. Flower hangers will return to the pillars on the back patio and attention to detail of on course garden and flower beds will be refreshed. Our Turf team has also refinished and painted all 300 tee blocks, as well as tidied up all on course signage. Inside the Clubhouse we have renovated parts of the lower level, including the wall outside the locker steward area and inside the Men’s locker room. We want to ensure that RattleSnake is earning the distinction of a Prestige Level ClubLink Property.

We listened to your feedback from last season, have an action plan in place to ensure we make good on our operational goals and ultimately look forward to building on what will be a successful 2023 golf season.
