Turf Update October

01 OCT 2025

Dear RattleSnake Members,

As we move into the fall season, I’d like to take a moment to update you on the projects our Turf team will be working on over the coming weeks and what you can expect around the golf course.

Throughout October, we will be aerating tees, aprons, and collars on a continuous basis. Aeration is one of the most important practices we perform each year, as it relieves compaction, improves drainage, and promotes healthy root growth. By focusing on these areas this fall, we are setting the stage for improved turf performance next spring. You’ll also be pleased to know that we will not be punching greens this fall, allowing them to remain in regular play as the season winds down.

Our annual fescue cutting program is also underway. This project typically takes eight to ten weeks to complete, as we work systematically through the naturalized areas around the property. Cutting the fescue at this time of year ensures that it remains healthy and properly thinned heading into next season, while also maintaining the playability and aesthetic of these areas.

In addition, we will begin re-asphalting sections of our cart paths throughout October in areas that have experienced wear and damage. These improvements will enhance both safety and overall playability for members. We will also be starting the reconstruction of the rock wall on Sidewinder #6. This work is intended to improve both the appearance of the hole and the playing experience, ensuring it remains one of the memorable features of the course.

Another important fall task is preparing our irrigation system for the winter months. The water lines will remain active until October 29th, which allows us to keep the course properly watered until late in the season. Beginning on that date, we will start blowing out the system to protect it from damage during the colder months ahead.

On behalf of the entire Turf team, I want to thank you for a terrific season at RattleSnake. Your support and understanding while we carry out these projects are greatly appreciated, and we hope you continue to enjoy the golf course throughout the fall. We look forward to seeing you out on the course and around the club as we finish another successful season together.

Warm regards,
Bill McAllister
