Director's Message From Craig
16 SEP 2025
Dear Members,
As we move into the fall season, we’re all hoping this beautiful, summer-like weather sticks around as long as possible. It’s a fantastic time to be out on the course, and a few small steps from everyone will help keep RattleSnake in great shape right through the end of the season.
We are working very hard to maximize the tee sheet and start as early as we can with tee times every day. With this, our turf team will be working through the dark in the mornings. In this message, we highlight how you can help our team so we can not only have more golf available for members but also enjoy a beautiful golf course to pair with it.
With the cooler nights and softer turf, ball marks and divots can take longer to heal. Please take an extra moment to repair your ball mark — and if you see another one, fix that too. When replacing divots, be sure to replace the turf you've taken and fill the edges with the seed and sand mix provided and smooth them over so the grass has the best chance to recover before winter.
Bunkers need some extra care this time of year as well. After you play your shot, a quick but thorough rake will go a long way in keeping them playable for everyone behind you.
You may also notice more frost delays as the mornings get colder. Walking or driving on frosty grass can cause permanent damage, so we really appreciate your patience as we wait for conditions to improve before opening the course.
Cart traffic is another big factor this time of year. Try to scatter your carts when you’re on the fairway and avoid wet or low-lying spots whenever you can. These areas are more vulnerable now and can take a long time to bounce back.
And of course, the little things go a long way — picking up broken tees, moving leaves off putting surfaces when possible, and tossing any trash helps the maintenance team stay ahead of the extra work that comes with fall.
You’ll also see some aeration and other seasonal maintenance practices taking place over the next few weeks. These are key to making sure the course comes back strong and healthy in the spring.
Thanks for taking pride in RattleSnake and doing your part to keep the course looking great. With everyone’s help — and hopefully a few more weeks of this great weather — we can finish the season on a high note.
See you out there,
Craig Cupido
