Course Care Update

Golf Course Care

Thank you for doing your part in helping us keep our golf courses in excellent condition. Small efforts from every golfer—such as repairing ball marks, filling divots, raking bunkers, and respecting cart path rules—make a big difference in maintaining great playing surfaces for everyone.

Ball Marks

Ball marks left unrepaired can cause lasting damage to the greens, affecting both appearance and playability. A properly repaired ball mark heals within 24 hours, while an un-repaired one can take weeks.

  • Use a repair tool to gently lift the turf at the edges (never pull up from the center).

  • Pat the area down with your putter to smooth the surface.

This quick step ensures our greens remain smooth, healthy, and enjoyable to play.

Divots

When divots are not replaced or filled, the exposed turf struggles to recover and can leave permanent scars.

  • Always replace the turf piece if it’s intact.

  • If the divot has shattered, fill the area with sand/seed mix provided on your cart.

  • Level the surface with your foot or club to allow even mowing and regrowth.

These simple actions protect the fairways and ensure they stay lush and consistent.

Greens

We’re proud to share that the greens have fully recovered from winter stress and are now maintained at peak season height for optimal play.

  • Greens are mowed daily and rolled regularly to provide smooth, fast surfaces.

  • Hole locations are rotated using our Traffic and Playability Management System, balancing front, middle, and back placements as well as left, center, and right.

Your care in repairing ball marks is critical to maintaining these tournament-quality surfaces.

Golf Carts

Golf carts can cause lasting damage to turf if not used responsibly.

  • Always remain on cart paths whenever possible, especially near greens and tees.

  • Avoid driving on stressed or dormant (brown) turf—this grass is in survival mode and cannot recover from cart traffic.

  • Healthy green turf can tolerate light traffic, but please use good judgment and respect all signage.

Every time you choose the path, you’re helping protect the long-term health of the course.

Bunkers

A well-maintained bunker is fair and playable for all. With rakes now back in use, please:

  • Rake smooth the area after playing your shot.

  • Leave the rake outside the bunker, parallel to play, to minimize interference.

These small courtesies keep bunkers consistent and enjoyable.

Fescue Areas

Fescue plays an important role in both the natural beauty and challenge of our course.

  • Power carts are not permitted in fescue areas under any circumstances.

  • Please walk in and out carefully when playing shots from these areas.

Protecting these native grasses ensures they remain a defining feature of our course.

By taking pride in these details, you’re helping preserve course conditions and ensuring a great experience for every golfer who plays RattleSnake Point.

Thank you,

Bill McAllister
